addiction has claimed another victim

Post by littlemiss » March 22nd, 2011, 5:01 pm

sitting here stabbing myself
repeatedly searching for a vein
with bruises, my arms are stained

trying to disguise
ignore the pain
of what I've become

it's no longer fun
not even when I'm spun

addiction has claimed another vicitim
it's won

I'm still awake when I notice rays of sun
flooding through panes of glass

panes that separate me from life
inside I hide
from voices
choices
chances
concerned judging glances

with the secret I keep
in here I dance
with the hypodermic devil

oh the glory
the mistique

emerging only out of necessity
desheveled
tweaked, weak, geeked
so-called methanphetamine sheik

haven't opened the blinds in a week
from within I barely peek

for this hole in my heart
something unknown to me
I continue to seek

I've become a junkie
a drug addicted freak
the only emotions I bare
the only things of which I care
from the hole in my heart they leak

from this distant stare that does not share
the truths I hide

I'm sorry for the many countless times I selfishly lied
to keep my secret safe

it's a hard lesson to define,
at this level of the truth...
it's not the muse, not the meth,
not the knowledge, nor the proof...

it's not the eloquence, from the heart,
but a perspective of the one observed...
and taken from it's point of view,
is the one whose sight is not reserved...

the truth is still beautiful,

welcome littlemiss, this is quite a sobering first effort, beautifully presented in form and function......I was particularly moved by the line, "panes that separate me from life"....i found that to a most powerful image within this subject....as if glass and prison bars were the same thing perhaps.....have you seen the movie, Spun? ....it paints quite a disturbing picture of the meth cycle of "life"......thanx for the raw honesty and poetic depiction.....
