“Dozing Penny Haiku”
By Steve Plonk

Bring out the dream to get away
From the ills of today
Feel yourself make the escape
Feel yourself free-up your astral soul
Feel yourself rip away the scorpion
Of painful times
Feel your breath
Feel yourself breathe deeply
Feel yourself know bliss
Feel yourself aware
Feel your mood change
Feel yourself flow & drift
Feel yourself doze/

Circa March 1976, revised March 2011.

“Acting Out Penny Haiku”
By Steve Plonk

Acting out is when you’re making it
While you’re faking it
There are ways & means
Foma of pretense
Sham, buffoonery, laughter,
Diversion, travelogue
Gangsters & lovers of love
Filmmakers of fantasy
Guitar players & ax grinders
Everything seems like a video game
Stage of here & now
You are playing your own audience/

Circa March 1976, revised March 2011.

good stuff- keep on ,,, sweet
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

"Cool Spring Day Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk

When the sunshine comes through
Windowsills, I get a-hankering
To ride through our Tennessee hills.
Just cruising with my family,
For all the sights to see,
Wisteria and Chinaberry growing,
Hyacinth breezes blowing,
Up and down we ride,
Across the countryside...

It's not for nature's latest verse
or prophecy of dirge and hearse
but simply turned on edge, and bowed:
the narrow and the twisted road;
and as it's promised life before,
now banner me with life once more
and fracture me and scatter sore
and salve my skin to match my core.

SPRING FORWARD PENNY HAIKU
By Steve Plonk

Gotta keep on flowing where we're going,
Whether it's sunny, rainy, or snowing,
Indefatigueable & rolling with finesse,
No matter whether things are great, or
If things are in distress--
Positive thinking helps get us through
We see the positive in me and in you...
I keep the light shining in the windows...
Listening to the tweets of returning swallows...

"Worried Penny Haiku Blues"

By Steve Plonk

Inflation, inflation, inflation...
Can't get it outta my head,
I worry about the price of fuel,
The price of bread...
Fills me full of dread...
We need to share to get relief,
Need to have farm co-ops,
It is my belief...
Big fuel corporations
Agribusiness
Need to be taxed,
Only way scarcity
May be relaxed...

Steve, I enjoy your penny haiku. I love some of the words you use to describe what you say, not the least of which is "cawing cards". That one made me laugh out loud for real. Not just the little lol that people leave without so much as a smile, but a real belly laugh.

Keep them coming. I love them.

"Obama Got Osama Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk

(a)
Hour's getting near eight,
Another time i tried to be provocative,
I wished Osama bin-Laden would:
Go to hell in a tin pie plate--
Got immediately published in "Bog-Gob"
Speaking poetic talkative,
Trying to not get too crockative...
***
(b)
Bin-Laden, who lived by the saber,
Gets taken out by "special ops" caper,
Which succeeded in getting Osama
Going to hell in a shroud,
Off an aircraft carrier,
As folks lately take up the chant,
Say it out LOUD:
"Obama got Osama!",
To four-four time,
During an Armed Forces parade...
"They wrapped Osama in clean white sheet,
Throwed him down in the darkened deep..."
***
(c)
A courier got Osama made--
Seals had to shoot the messenger, too...
They didn't miss Osama in Abbottabad either,
Because he beat up people he didn't like
(In that Pakistani town) that got too close to
His bodacious million dollar compound on their bike...
Seals wrapped Osama in a clean white sheet,
Throwed him down to "Davy Jones Locker"--
Now Satan uses Bin-Laden's head to play soccer...
***
(d)
Old Osama's going through Satan's heavy
Metal detector, as goes a cartoon hector...
Critics of my bluster should remember,
That 9/11 victims had no shields
When jet planes were used as a vector,
For mass destruction on a scale unknown,
For terrorists acting out on their own...
My first thought was that revenge was sweet,
Avenging the death of an acquaintance,
Was quite an amazing feat...
Obama got Osama,
Succeeding in quite a "special ops" drama!
Praised be! Says this old pesky flea...
