trying to catch up with myself

Image
this one was up the other day during the Melt jam... a photo i took at virginia beach last summer and digitally enhanced

Image
i put this one up right after the Melt jam - photo of the Christo Gates in NYC Central Park by Patrick, aka lescaret.... Thank you so much for letting me use your photo ... i distorted it a little, hope you don't mind! What I love is the lady's lavendar scarf and how it pops out in the corner, making the orange/saphron even more vivid.

thank you all for your kind comments. I'm glad you're enjoying the changing images.

Seems like I'm at a standstill with site development ... darnit... but things will move forward soon, I hope... in the meantime, creating these banners keeps me off the streets and outa trouble. ;)

nice, jimbo!

could you please come back and link to mark rothko's website or wherever it is that you got these images, ok?

We don't have a whole lot of rules here like some places that don't allow you to post the text from an article or link to images which you didn't create, but there's a reason those places have those rules and it has to do with copyright. From reading the "Fair Use" copyright laws, it seems to me that if you link to where you got the images or the text, we're doing alright in that regard.

I guess I should have mentioned this before if I haven't. Thanks for posting the images.... It would be good to link to where you got them, OK? I'd like to see more of rothko's work, too, as I'm sure others would. Thanks! :D

I'm sorry, I assumed one could simply "quote" for the url's but now realise that guests not logged in can not do this. I like the splash of lavender with the orange flags, yes! Kooky!Lescaret reminded me of color and meditative space.

Nice, Doreen. Dave's one liner haikoo brought it out for me.
Was that from some Persian poet, Dave?
I like the search for composition.

Thank you, Kurt! Great stuff!

Jimbo- do you have a larger, better resolution, file of that drawing you just posted? I'd like to make it into a banner, if that's ok with you. If so, could you email it to me, please? ;)

I chickened out and edited it back. I seem to get carried away over here and don't know whern to quit!

I can email you a jpeg and give you the photobucket url, oh well, here it is, now that you ask.

It is actual size, so I don't know if you can resize it with any resolution. But the bird tells it all, the rest is fluff!

Thanks, Jim!

You didn't need to edit it out... it was fine to post it here! Had you not posted it here, I would have forgotten about it... I remembered seeing it on the visual arts board but I didn't think of it for a banner until I saw it here. Thanks for the link! ;)

The "wall sculpture project" is exactly what I am saying about you looking for composition wherever it appears, and then the ordinary becomes magic.
Also thanks for the link to Kurts work. Maybe I'll set aside some time and explore it like I did with Anemone Achtnich . plus I found the exact url that you got the banner from and see how ya composed it

"Broken Road"

Post by lescaret » February 22nd, 2005, 10:13 am

Jimboloco, your 'Broken Road' image tres fantastique, take me to Flanders, walk the WWI battlefields, the countryside, the meandering slab rock earthquake rough.

Sometimes the proud highway is a broken road.
"... accept balance on the turbulent promenade."
