The Sharpening Stone

Post by Cher » May 9th, 2011, 11:28 am

behold the doubled edged knife
that cuts savagely through my aura
the edge dulled by the pain
of my existence

the sharpening wheel is dirty,
oxidized with the rancid droplets
of those who deemed themselves worthy
of interfering in my life

they wield the blade
high over their heads and
sweep down with every blow.

my life becomes segmented
cut into small pieces
jagged with the tears of my soul

with my last breath
I inhale the sweet scent of hope
victorious in the knowledge that
my life is not a joke

I will triumph over their attacks
I savor my life’s force

in a split second it will be over
the blade sweeps down again
searching for its final target
my heart

I feel the warmth
of the blood as it leaves my body
but it is replaced with a new life force
one of purity and strength
purpose and grace

my energy is returning
it is of a different source
healing nutrients course through my veins
my heart pumps faster, steadier this time

I have found the sharpening stone

smell the metal as the two surfaces rub against each other
feel the pristine edge as the new blade is formed
taste the sweet thick droplets of awe
ripped from the open mouths of the defeated

It is now my turn
