forgiveness

Post by creativesoul » July 20th, 2011, 3:32 am

i had a visitor
he was much older and wiser
than you are now
over time, the wound had healed
he spoke softly and lovingly
he wept
he told me how he carried this burden for many years
and that he needed me to forgive him-
he looked like my father, my lover, my brother, my cousin- he looked like family
like love
but he lied
he was a rat looking for somewhere to sleep
collecting garbage
i loved him anyway
that was not a mistake
the problem is how to forgive myself
see
there were things i couldnt say to you with out crying
there was no safe place for me to go
so now this old man and i
we talk
and i forgive him
but before i could- i saw him as a small child playing alone
i saw how he could not help what he was....
that he was hurt
like me
so it became more like unity
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

"Forgiveness as unity," so she surmised,
"might pardon impunity." I was surprised...
and yet it speaks justice: I do what's me done.
Forgiveness is unity; you and me: one.
