Looking To Be A Poet Again

Post by theirishsea » September 2nd, 2011, 9:08 am

i want to regain the lyric flame
dance light in the small circle of my thoughts

i would like to stay attuned
to the music of the moon
which is the silence
between vibrating strings
and they, those strings,
are sinews in the heart
playing silly old love songs
cliches' surely
but so wonderful their silent echo
in my ear
as i watch the moon
a sufficient thing
dancing around so much wistfulness
in my heart

certainly my words
are tangled like yesterday's cassettes
Henry Mancini's orchestra
corny
as the unwound tape is gone
lost
flimsy
in the moonlight
a broken violin
that connotes so much music lost
and i
an unravelled poet
losing my way
in the clouds of contemporary echo
but the silence
yes
let me just keep quiet
and live
The Irish Sea Is Always In Turmoil, Even When Calm.

A couple of days ago Moon River was floating around my head. Might there be a.........................connection?

:D

Love the poetic hearts here, reeling in the fish, line by line, all the while surfing the wild moon. Thank you.

for me it seems I can read something I wrote a few years ago, and think, hey that was pretty good, then reread it six months later and think, man that was garbage....I guess i could conclude that our moods weigh in heavily as a barometer of such things......so I never throw anything away......with the hope my shitty poems will one day be great !......haha........keep the faith danno, inspiration is as fleeting as the weather in Baltimore.....and you know what they say about the weather in Baltimore, ...If you don't like it, wait a minute.....nicely handled.....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
