lost ladder

Post by the mingo » September 4th, 2011, 7:54 am

lost ladder leaning against a tree
all mouths overrun
with bacteria
we pick our noses
with astonishing regularity
is it anything we recognize
criticize
deify
?
immolate evaporate
deracinate - co-operate
open the gate !
talk about tomorrow
please ignore the dust
dollar bills from Bunker Hill
dreaming away the rust
snakes in the foundation
always there

the young want to raise everything to music
the old men love their old motors

I still like to hear
the women sing
- something biblical about all that
or
archeological
to forgive myself just long enough
to listen and I think that
I'm as easy to apply
as shampoo

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Original metaphor here---and striking

I'm as easy to apply
as shampoo

I wanted to back away from the first couple of lines of this poem----all that bacteria.
