I'll Ramble for Jim Morrison

Post by izeveryboyin » February 24th, 2005, 5:07 pm

Together with you we will shoot down slices of the sun and cringe and night's bleeding embers, flaming death upon the floor in tiny droplets of blood and scream... "RED IS THE NIGHT!" In different languages, and cry false tears in our native tounge. Together, you and I, crestfallen angels will dance the song of gypsies and indians in the summer months... breath autumn, and pray to the heavens for a bit of idle satisfaction on a country nude beach. Five shades of nowhere on the highway to hell, so let's climb that pyramid of the sun, tequila shaken and spun, No rest til the job is done. We fly... night breeders, death birds of mexico city.We were the believers who saw the whole thing begin. The pretty girl with long dark hair, the funny smile and the glossy stare, came into town, and blew away as softly as the wind some breeze of blazed creation on a storm of ideas, and thoughts and retty phrases tied up in brown paper packages. A simple gathering of the spirits, the night before we died. All hail the amnerican night! You crooned at the moon, weary, drunk with poetiscism, and I cracked open your mind with a broken CD... spilled you out and made voices sing again. And the stage was floating, alit with flaming stars of the distant galaxies. The wolves bayed madly at the blue sunday moon, Until finally we gathered there, we gathered warm and fuzzy with the revolution. Warm... fuzzy, revolution, we gathered there before you and watched life make sense. Up there, we watched you sing, and we watched the night die away calmly, and the day fade into oblivion. We saw the stars realign on their own, a tangle of confusion. We sat there upon the chaos, and cried at the beauty. And you, beautiful and phosphorescent... you kept on singing until nothing mattered but the words.

Kayla,
I love Morrison
he was a great performer
I saw him four times

but as a poet?---donno
he was a great popularizer of poetry
but his stuff is in a pretty narrow niche

the piece you did above is as good as anything he ever did poetically

I'm sure Morrison is smiling in hell. Great tribute.

I love it.

I think Jim Morrison was a fine poet.

Here's a link to some of his poetry.

I enjoyed your piece, K - I love how you use internal rhyme. Your writing begs to be spoken. It is lyrical.... the words are music.

I'm a great fan of internal rhyme and assonance. I use them in prose and poetry often, myself, or attempt to. To me, these are two of the most effective tools of the craft.

thanks everybody for the great compliments!! I've got every volume of poetry of his listed above, and some other stuff he didn't publish or officially record that a 1st genration fan got for me from the man himself. She was dating a roadie at the time. At any rate D, thanks for appreciating the ryhme and the "lyric-verse" as morrison woulda called it. LRod, I have a great appreciation for his poetry, only because it is sporadic and free as if spoken, he had the basic principal that Kerouac did, only, he had mastered a form of it that was more acid and rock and roll. I can admire that (much as morrison admiredf Kerouac). At any rates folks, thank you all for reading, and for complimenting me... i love it!!

Jim ramble......Indian....Indian....me, my mother and my father....
ridin' cross the New Mexican desert right through Gallup, onto Tucumcari, I saw Jim hitchin a ride, I could see the souls of them dead Indians as they rose into the southwestern sky, followed that dream right on out to Sunset Boulevard the land of Kit Kat bars and long limousine cars.....walked those Alexandria streets just like he did all the way downtown to D.C. home of the American dream..... into this house we're born....into this world we're torn....shot pool in Ricky's basement when we heard "come on baby light my fire"...made us wanna set the night on fire...rode those crystal ships to get my fill and I'm still waiting fo thesun.....
Jim was a modern Rimbaud and they will be reading him till the end my beautiful friend.
