irene's belly

Post by the mingo » September 27th, 2011, 11:43 am

irene's belly is soaking up the hard rain
irene's belly turns it all to secrets
irene's belly turns dogs away to the deserts
where they howl misery into the bone dry nights
irene's belly swallows some dreams
and makes birth for others
irene walks down the driveway to greet
what once called her belly home
and the fields stretch out behind her where
the prophets roam
the school bus doors open &
a child appears
runs to irene
and hugs her round round belly
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

This is simply wonderful. I can see it beautifully illustrated for a young adult/older child's poetry book!

yes, agree with Anna and Steve, Steve.
A poem for coloring, a delicious animated poem
and how beautiful Irene is with that multi-fabulous belly

I likes, too.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
