wish-fulfilling jewels

Post by Kailashana » October 7th, 2011, 10:42 am

Your green eyes betray your mouth,
my old love,
you say you are not lonely and you are
happy to live alone again
you say you don't need anyone to make
you whole, neither do I, perhaps you've
just forgotten, perhaps you never understood

my wedding band
is a golden crown of thorns I haven't worn
for years, but I know with certainty that
love is not a jaded or angry face,

you say you're happy for me; my mind
catches sight of an old photo--
we were young and
filled with love and lust, maybe we mistook
one for the other, maybe lust is the balm
that unites all lovers, maybe time is the potion that
drinks us and severs its living fruit from the tree of life,
shadows from the yearning light

we are human wish-fulfilling jewels
lying scattered in open fields, waiting for a
hand that clasps us to a heart.

(for my x-husband, our son married 10/1)

well we have to wish all newlyweds the best of luck....'cause they will need it !

ain't nothing in my experience easy about it....for me the lust was more than likely number one.....though certainly there were moments that felt like there was more... be it a long term relationship or a marriage, it is hard to keep the fires burning forever.....practically a miracle I'd say.....maybe we expect too much, or perhaps we give too little, but more than likely it's nobody's fault.....

thought provoking poem
