Tea Ceremony

i.

cLife breathes
and takes this breath away

leaves the pi of distance
between fleeting moments

a rainbow arc hangs in the balance
whispering to my presence

You pour into me
Your love

I take another breath.

ii.

I fell in love with a poet
once,
rather I fell across his words

together
we formed a cross
to which I was nailed like a jewel fish,

silently, I took extreme measures
of my own,
I practiced austerity

and wrote poems under water.

iii.

there is a resemblance
that bears fruit
we bite into passages
mule-headed into the daylight

poems and poets locked in battle
with a band of angels
bright swords lifted like hymns
like prayers.
