there once was peace
before the storm
of human greed
the earth still waged
its ways of change
but we as mammals
knew our place
those times have gone
and we're alone
upon the precipice.
can we turn back
the tides of want
and reach for our place of need
as i lie down to sleep
in an untilled field
where the wild flowers grow
and aren't called weeds
my hope calls out
so all may hear

and the last line from "to all that may hear"
to "so all may hear"
