An Odd Poem About The Wind

Post by theirishsea » November 3rd, 2011, 10:42 am

the wind
which is the flex of air pressure
the number and weight of molecules
reaches out to the less flexible solidity of the world
which can be constructed in the mind abstractly
but it must be remembered
and usually is
a wall of Being
only microscopically giving
to the dumb but probing motion
of molecules
that the thoughtful human feels
in his hair
rearranging
all the order planned
with unplanned
style
The Irish Sea Is Always In Turmoil, Even When Calm.

cells and molecules are vexing enough to consider, but atoms with their buzzing electron clouds are even more existentially bizarre.

and then the sub-atomics . . . even more surreal when physicists start asking child-like questions like, "why do things weigh what they weigh?" and start talking about a pure vacuum as a "field of (as yet) invisible particles" . . . the essence of essence . . .

trippy ....

Physicists, the closest thing to metaphysicians, who are none other than mystic poets. ;-)

It's all a numbers game. The one and the many. Thanks for the poem, food for thought.
