Thx Jack, i always liked Copperhead Road - the spirit of the thing - used to be folks around here lived the way that song plays out - but they all long gone now. got the younger ones growing the evil weed or dealing other stuff but they too smart about themselves and i read their names in the paper once or twice a week in the police blotter. Face of crime different here these days, not sayin' it's changed - it's just different.
i know what ya mean about the mind melting - i'll be talking to people when my words just get away from me & all run together - and i don't think the rest of it is gonna get any prettier. Ain't i too young for this? 8)

Copperhead road reminded me of family.
My grandma making her moonshine and wine.
Believe it or not, there are still people out in the mountains making.
I never did anything other than take a small sip of moonshine.
Now a bottle of wine was like a comfort. mmm

I don't think the zoo will let us in with a shotgun...
which is o.k. cause I couldn't shoot an alligator unless he took a bite out of me.
We could go out shooting spiders, I could do that.

That would be a challenge - then we have to skin 'em and put all the skins on the wall 8) got a helicopter going back and forth here, they are lookin' for a guy that rolled his car near here on Saturday and ain't been seen since - they think he's hurt - i heard they did find some blood. They had dogs out over the weekend - funny they didn't pick up any scent. Hope they find him. If he is hurt bad he shouldn't be far, if they don't get to him soon the coyotes will. He was last seen at a local bowling alley - I think he had too much to drink then he tried to get upriver to home by using the county roads instead of the state highway, rolled his car was either dazed and confused by it all or knowing himself legally drunk and not wanting to be found in that condition crawled off or walked off into the woods
maybe not realizing how bad he was hurt or bleeding internally and got himself into a jam ... one of the reports i read said he lives in Fulton and that is about eight miles upriver from where he ran off the road.

A little excitement around the lodge. Life goes on and the shit goes down. I guess it's time i put this guy on my prayer list.
catch ya later, Doll.

"the law they swore that'd get him but the devil got him first"
The Ballad of Thunder Road
nothing to do with your post really
except the reference to dangerous roads

I drove many miles on the edge of consciousness trying to sing that song on the CB trying to keep myself awake

that is a bad story Steve, at least he did not take an innocent life with him.
if he was drunk and does survive maybe he will have learned something.

not a good death, not one I would choose for myself,

Yeah Jack, they are still looking for him. The state police had a chopper in the air doing a grid pattern search out here yesterday morning. I put the guy on my prayer list like I said. After he rolled his car he might have had the presence of mid to whip out his cellphone and get a ride and he might have stashed himself with family or friends but if not...it was Saturday early a.m. when he rolled his car & it's Wednesday afternoon as I write this. If he has stashed himself somewhere I hope he just gives it up because they are gonna ticket him for breaking laws he don't even know exist yet...if he's out in the woods I hope it turns out he survives but it don't look good to me...thx for the song - i had forgotten Mitchum sang that.

the changing face of crime, for some reason I think about the faces of sacco and vanzetti,
how is he doing, did they find him yet?

I have died in a thousand wrecks it feels like, sometimes. Imagined the crash, the sounds the pain. If I do die in a car wreck I hope it will be in a Bugatti.
I don't know what is going on with my mind anymore
more aware of the losses maybe, something gained for something lost,
ain;t living long like this maybe but I will
be seventy one in a few months I hope
boy I hope I make it through 1212 in to 1213 even, seventy two or three I could live with that.

I remember an interview of robert mitchum from around 1966 he was drunk talking about vietnam, he was a real hawk back then, I wonder if he changed his mind

sometimes I think we are all missing ... we lose control of the vehicle somewhere on a curve on a county two lane blacktop and right off the road ... roll the damn thing then battered & bleeding we get to our feet & not knowing how badly we are hurt it's off into the woods we go ... not even the dogs can find us ...

damn it all to hell ...

not such a big thing in the scheme of things, except to those who may love us ... i guess if you're lucky in the end you become one more mystery ... if unlucky then you become a curiosity for a few days, maybe a week or two ...

every one I know is younger than me - they have their own portion to remember and I don't hold that against them. Just that it's strange to come to the place where the people who remember the same things & times you do become fewer & fewer in number ... the world goes on spinning gettin' crazier by the moment and it finally hits you (among other things) that your worries really are a self-indulgent waste of your time and always have been, along with the world and all it's hoopla and it's a dead serious almost comedic moment when you realize, now that the view of the end of the trail can no longer be subject to any denial or philosophic musing, that the only thing worth wondering about and curious of is

who will turn out to be the very last of the children still standing.

so fire all the foxes - let the bloom begin!

I got dead chicken parts in my fridge, they've gone bad on me.
Outlaws in the canyons!
Gina Lollobrigida make me a statue - please!

I've got a lizard in a glass cage in the corner of the room here. It wasn't my idea. In fact, I was against it from the start.

Maybe Gina will come by and make a statue out of the lizard.

I get to watch. Gina is ninety some odd years old now and i still want to watch.

I wouldn't care if she was dead - I'd still have to watch.

O yeah Mama, sculpt that thing!

Love to but would it be justice or cruelty ? Unlucky scale-skinned bastard. I did not want 'em here, believe me. The whole thing pisses me off. Wild animals should not be caged. Shows the decadence and corruption endemic to the heart of our society. I told the guy who gave the lizard to my Babydoll not to give it to her and I told Nancy not to accept it & here it is in the corner of the room.
God bless it all. So, two things at the end of the line in this situation - I either turn the lizard loose into a environment he has absolutely no hope of surviving in or I just shoot him. Isn't that just peachy? If he was out where he should be and he got ate by rat or snake or raptor that would be in the natural order of things.
But me having to shoot him and making him pay with his life for things over which he had no control is not natural - it's the Devil's work.

In an effort to get out of this myself I'm currently in negotiations with the original owner to take him back.
I hope that works out.

i agree with ya, Free The Lizard ... hell ya, Mongolia!
