I sat in Plato's cave

Post by revolutionrabbit » January 26th, 2012, 5:30 am

I sat in Plato's cave
but there were flashing lights
on the far away wall
bongo sounds smooth in background
I sat and contemplated the weird dark
ambiance of existential vacuums
inside of large balls of green color
that revolved into geometric shapes
creating a oceanic depth in the dingy
atmosphere
It seemed like I had been holding that
coffee cup for days ,but only a few sips
had gone by, a cat like person walked
past my sitting position, that seemed
like the letter in some word that was
the word in some poem
I had just read in my copy of Golden
Sardine
words had become the latest thing
they were wild and groovy
but you had to let them happen, man!
great poets were known to hang out
in dark lighted cafes, or poets that
had not found that great thing yet
reading the words that hung out
in great poems, or poems that matter if you
sat and meditated on the words
that would some day, say the great things
It doesn't matter if you are still living in
that beatnik dream, and thinking how cool
it is to just be able to read poetry
that sounds like planets rolling through
huge alleys of outta mind, outta sight
and hear the snap of your fingers
in the sweet spaces between jazz notes
and float there in that jazzy nothings
for a few cool Kalpas
city lights blinking
in the neon ages
the voices sound
like waves of voices
past in the crazy now night
against the caffeine void
soft bongos and water
in a glass looking like
time, I sat in Plato's cave
and let the great words
from silent nirvana
wash over me

outstanding......has that old time beat magic many of us came to love, and deftly is chronicling a young man's entry into that world ...had to read this one aloud...
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Very good poem. How many people mistake the shadows on the cave walls for reality? Thank you fro sharing.
