I'll have to watch these tomorrow. I remember when we were talking about getting boats and you said you might get one of those blow-up kayaks.
I like the ones you can add the sailboat to and the motor.
You'll get the most with it in the long run

It's amazing the work you've done on that skull, the bird is so intriguing and there's so many sweet detailing going on on it. You've talent in your finger tips and imagination. Thank you for showing me the pictures.

The kaboat interests me, it and the sailboat, both.
I don't think I like the looks of having to use my shoulders and arms so much so on kayaks, I think I'm too lazy. With the kaboat there are options like the motor, so if ya get tired. And nothing could be wrong with sailing.
I wish I was out on the water right now.

Thx Doll, I can about get into some beads - I wish I could have gotten better pics. You can't see it in the pics but that piece of driftwood is actually arched - if you were more level with it you could see daylight underneath like a bridge but the pics flatten everything about this piece. I'm doing a bowl at the moment. After that I have a large coyote skull I picked up a couple of years ago that's haunting my brain. After that i have a resin-cast turtle that is daring me to bead it.
Hell yeah, Mongolia!

I like paddling but I know what you mean about the work. Thing with paddling is you can get carried away going in never once thinking about how far you paddle in is exactly how far you have to paddle out. And I'm a sucker for possibilities & options. The Kaboat gives all of that in spades. It can be paddled, rowed, sailed and motored. Every vid I've looked at showing that you can use kayak paddles with the Kaboat though show me that even though it can be done the work that's involved doesn't payback the effort it takes. Inflatable boats, even those designed to resemble kayaks do not have the same ability to "glide" like a hard-shell kayak. Just the nature of the beast. The larger Kaboats, say 14', come with oars and the shots I've seen where they are being rowed show that the craft responds much better with less effort. The electric motors really interest me also. I don't need speed so much, even though you can mount a small gas outboard on a Kaboat, the electric would suit me just fine. Got good range and it's quiet quiet quiet. Get tired of paddling or rowing just stow the oars and cock the motor down, turn a handle and away you go to happy happy land. 'Course, sooner or later, I would be tempted to try a gas motor - 2 & a half to six horse or so, just to see what it's like to get a stiff wind slappin' my face.

Whew! All this boat talk got me bothered. I don't know which way I'll go. With the Kaboat I'd want the electric motor for starters so you have to have a battery & a charger - don't know if I can cover that distance all at once. The Saturn Expedition 13' kayak is the same price as their 14' Kaboat & I wouldn't want a motor with the kayak. So... the thing with the Kaboat though is you would be more looking toward the future - the Kaboat and electric motor this year and the sail rig to go with it next year. Got the scenario in my head that way. Aaaarrrgghhhhhh !

It will probably be the Saturn kayak this year & the Kaboat next year with the full deal - electric motor, sail rig - the works.

good luck with your boats, mingo!! I usually don´t enjoy speed, noise & nafta smell, that´s one of the reasons I find kayaks so beautiful. But for long distances, more cargo and not too much time I guess they motor-ones are the indicated!. Yesterday I took some photos but not from the water, I took them from the islands (I´m not good at doing two things at the same time... ). We only crossed to Isla Verde and the Embudo because it was near midday when we crossed and the río was picado. Post them later!

Thx, Veronica, I look forward to that It is cool to go along, the only noise from your motion the sound of your paddle dipping into and then rising from the water... I enjoy that part of kayaking too. Thing that got me to thinking about an electric motor is the kind of camping we like to do. We like to get back in there, usually for at least three days or however many we can fit in. You have to take enough provisions with you to cover however long you intend to stay. Water, food, clothes, sleeping bags, tent, etc. An electric motor would make that easy and we could tow our kayaks in with the Kaboat. Then we could paddle to our heart's content, free & easy. I will probably get the inflatable kayak this year and wait to get the Kaboat next year when I will be better able to get the electric motor & battery, the whole outfit all at once.

this was last friday´s boat (it´s the blue & white one the first in the looong serie...!). The river is again very low, so it requires some effort to put the kayak out the water.
