the guts of war

Post by saw » April 19th, 2012, 10:41 am

when I ponder my current reality
it's impossible to conceive of another
one where soldiers cut off fingers
for souvenirs

difficult as hell to grasp
that my little world is so abjectly
foreign from this other universe
where warriors laugh and piss on corpses

but let's face it, this is modern war
hell, this is ancient war
war turns the kid next door
that used to cut your grass

into a psychopathic killer

trained in the finest boot camps
that teach the dark arts
of dehumanization, step one
learn all the derogatory nicknames

gook, raghead

It's difficult for a farm boy
to kill another human being
much much easier
to slaughter a camel-fucker

hey, I've got a good idea
let's take some photos to show
our families and friends, place that
severed hand on my shoulder

wait, wait......til I smile
did you get it ?
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

and this is what our culture honors. "serving one's country in the military"...
we're a fucked-up species. have been for a long time ...
