it happened again -
it always does, this time
it was a woman in a car, turning
a corner, a three second window
of opportunity, into which
i crammed a neurotic lifetime
she sort of reminded me...
different combinations came to mind
louise ranier with a touch of anna magnani
or maybe a susan hayward/myrna loy hybrid
she was tough to pin down -
hard to figure out, of course
i only saw her from the shoulders up
but that seemed to be enough, after all
i've gone with much less and ended up
at the same place - the same damn place

my grandpas star 'richard dix' is there- in the cemment- as all the memories of junkies and hookers my father and uncle knew- but really- i liked the small little moment of observation with you- i think of the shoes walking on my grandfather s achievement-...........i think of the dreams i had once- like jack nicolson in my rear view mirror in santa monica\ or peter fonda with his new baby in venice-- and before my friend aurthur- died of wet brain.. he played me a song on his piano---i havent gotten anyone hawaiian to sing bali hai yet.....aloha-nice write-inspiring-if i might add...

thanks for the nice, and interesting, comments. it's my first poem since returning back home to baltimore. it's strange; sometimes i wonder if i'll ever write another - i get nervous - but something always triggers it off. it's only a matter of time.
