pugilist

Post by mnaz » May 28th, 2012, 6:12 pm

how could you survive the last century
and not want to take up fists against it all
against the murdering hordes of justice
against too much fucking belief?

norman mailer had the right idea
settle things with your fists, like a man
they used to settle things with their fists
back in the fifties, after the confetti parades
and flamethrowers and napalm, after victory
the ugly truth of victory before it went viral

mailer had the right idea, but he stabbed his wife
israel had the right idea, but stabbed the holy land
and we duke it out by who has a nuke in their fist
the old testament was right about who has a right
only the fury of god can bring the promised land
and the new testament was right about the end

norman mailer signed my copy of the spooky art of writing, like the movie 'the jerk' i cling to it as if it had far more value- more than likely than it does- he touched my hand at WORDSTOCK in portland
the whole idea of fighting
have decide to hide in the jungle for 3 years
like a cowardly lion
but i miss coffee houses and smoke
although it would appear cigarette smoking is a criminal offense these days

always like it when you post- i will come back- later- and read it again- it is part of the joys of being me- and reading people s stuff- ill go make coffee - and think about it-SOME MORE-ALOHA
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

I never used my fists in the 1950s unless I was certain I would survive. I survived because my brain knew then odds. Fine poem. 8)

yes i tote around his signed copy of the sppoky art of writing from portland to kauai- i think he was fabulous- marilyn monroe liked him too- how bad could he have been- ? bad question- i know how bad he was- but he was a great writer- and he held my hand and looked deeply into my eyes- so i believe- that i will get an extra lightening bolt from the writing Gods- gotta read about his marijuana years-funnier than shit- ALOHA scuzi sempre cosi
