social assumptions and ideology

Post by sweetwater » August 19th, 2012, 10:34 am

Teresa Bolick writes, "Their deficits are actually assets, as they are unfettered by convention or manners. .Aspies help us stay grounded by questioning why we do what we do, why we need to get married" and other basic societal assumptions.

...

it's not that social assumptions are inaccurate or even unnecessary

...

When told they had to "eat and run," one Aspie said, "Oh, that's makes us carnivorous panty hose."

Students with Aspergers have a low social IQ, so they either do not notice the bullying, retaliate, or get the blame for it shifted onto them! It is the responsibility of adults, parents and teachers, to address this issue. . .

The underlying attitude is that it is the victim's fault. One principal told a parent of an Aspie, "Your son is a little different and it bothers other children, so he brings this on himself because of who he is." Also in such a school, teachers and coaches bully the child too. . .

Something not quite right with me, my family all knew. The Little Professor syndrome I have heard it called. But I have never had a diagnosis, also but, I I may be a hypochondriac too. I sometimes use inappropriate emoticons :)

Speaking of social assumptions I wonder what life will be like after Studio Eight.
