Jim:

Your pastels, particularly this last one and the Lautrec-like one of the heavy woman in your other set ( the second one down, I think), remind me of the pastels of R.B. Kitaj ( pronounced Kee-tah), one of my favorite artists.

Kitaj was born in Ohio, moved to Spain and then England, where he lived for thirty years until the death of his wife, and now lives in Westwood, LA, near UCLA.

Here's a link, but you might want to investigate his work further. I own all the books published on him:

I been working on a image map for jimboloco's military surplus virtual yard sale but I am getting the sguirms over copright issues, I don't want to see you plagerized. Going to try and figure out how to cover your ass with a watermark or something, or do you care if your pixels get ripped off. ?

this picture below was for sale, I lost track of the link to the artist but I will try to find it again. On his website when he has sold a picture you can't access the image anymore, sust a "SOLD SIGN"

Your art is good Jim. Bringing figures to life, giving them character is no easy task. Shading, subtlety of line, tone, how far to go with it, all tough calls in my opinion. Not easy, not easy at all, you do well.

I think art, painting, sketching, is a labour of love. Can one do it if they don't love what they're doing.(Just following a train of thought). :)
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

It is like anything. I think that having a presence of mindfullness is enough.
Be aware of how you are feeling, let it flow. Sometimes it takes concentration. Sometimes it is easy. The last figure, above Still Muckracking's red sea with Davy Jones pic, is one of my not-so-fluent drawings. her foot goes out of the scene, chopped off, what a teacher would say to avoid. I should've moved the composition to the left when initially gesturing it in....yet it appeared this way and the linear style was also awkward, lending to a generic distortion, but ok as well for it reveals a different type of my drawing styl. Not even do I regret it.

I have a large number of "bad" drawings, poorly executed that I should represent in here, which I will do someday, but no deadlines, please!!!!
Thanks for your inquiry.....Squeek!!!
