This exchange is one I have had, off and on, for over 50 years. My aim is not to convert you; you are probably close to unconvertable. But we can share views and, at that level, it is excellent. I think that as far as the myriad Christian positions are concerned, I find John Shelby Spong one of the most intellectually stimulating and agreeable of positions at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Shelby_Spong

Re: "Chat Spot"
Spong was right in about half his points. However, he is too "human centric".
Creation & humanity share God's grace. God's presence is palpable if one
truly petitions for grace. God's trinity & unity is not at stake. God was always
united & the world is better for it. The avatar of one age is not good for the
next age? If GOD IS ONE then there is no need for a new proclamation.
Ron, The above paragraph, such as it is, is probably as esoteric as I get, given my current mindset. "You are the actor. You are on the stage & God is your true audience, if being saved is palpable. But the creatures of the Earth are fellow travelers.
All creation is truly blessed." A liveable quote by myself...
Ron, I also like Tillich. I have visited his tomb in New Harmony, Indiana, USA.
Have you considered the notion that animals, too, have rudimentary souls!?
Is is possible that heaven really has seven levels? Are you caretaker for pets?
Small boxes, many questions, so little time to converse &/or answer...

Re: "Chat Spot"
Yes, Chat Spot, I've always liked Tillich. In Baha'i teachings animals don't have souls, nor do plants or rocks. The Baha'i concept of progressive revelation: Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammed, Bab and Baha'u'llah has always appealed to me, a sort of cross-cultural messianism....but I don't expect it will appeal to you.-Ron

Re: "Chat Spot"
My sixty-four dollar question for the day is: "Are you an animal lover, &, if so,
do you support the humane society in your region?"
I am a tree hugger & animal lover "from way back" & I support environmental causes.
...Just so you know...
do you support the humane society in your region?"

Re: "Chat Spot"
I get questions sent to me, Chat Spot, in relation to dozens of causes and issues; I get asked to sign petitions and donate money to a litany of $64,000 dollar questions. Some women even send me photos of themsleves to go on dates and, as I say, on and on goes the internet litany. I've written a generalized response which you can skim or scan at: http://www.ronpriceepoch.com/PSYCHOLOGY ... ships.html

Re: "Chat Spot"
Ron, I'll just get more specific. I was wondering if you had pets. I have cats. "Share & share alike" is my motto. If you don't care to share that information that is fine.
I am just here to chat. I'm not soliciting money, nor much of your time... Anything in depth needs to be addressed to me in my column area in the column forum, ie. "Life in the Horse Lane". I have various topics to choose from,
if you wish to talk in depth in my column.
Otherwise, lengthy discourse on other topics should be directed to other forums in Studio Eight. We just don't have time here in "Chat Spot" to discuss lengthy essays. That belongs in the Stories & Essays forum, etc. You see what I mean? This is a place for "brass tacks" answers. A short paragraph or a simple yea or nay would do.

Re: "Chat Spot"
Thanks, Chat Spot, for your useful advice on posting here at Studio Eight. I had a cat, off and on, from the 1950s to the 1990s. On old-age pensions, now, my wife and I decided back in 1999 not to have any pets in our retirement years.-Ron in Tasmania

Re: "Chat Spot"
Ron, pleased to know that you, too, were a cat buddy...One of our cats is a female orange domestic mixed tabby, & one is a black, brindle & white male Maine coon mix. Both have been "fixed" so they can't reproduce. The female is twelve years old & the male will be seventeen this Halloween...Just two, now.
My wife & daughter help with the cats. My daughter is very good at giving them their medications...
I also have taken care of dogs in the past...one was a German shepard, one was a blue ribbon Boston terrier, & one was a mixed breed black medium sized dog with a white spot under his muzzle. I also once worked in a boxer kennel in my youth & helped train & show boxer dogs. (Moreover, I've taken care of fish, guinea pigs, turtles, snails, & snakes. Snakes are the hardest to take care of. They require live bait...)
We also have rescued & gotten one large dog, & numerous cats adopted...However, now we encourage others to do so, because we are busy taking care of our own ageing pets. The world is so full of homeless animals & homeless people. We try to alleviate suffering, now, whereever we see it by giving our fair shares to charity.

I could respond to your post, Chat spot, by writing about my life with pets in the years 1952 to 2012 but I will, instead, post to you my annual email to family, friends and associations of various kinds. It is an annual email that was once a letter during the years 1967 to 1997, and is now a link to my website at:
http://www.ronpriceepoch.com/auto.html ....just skim and scan about the quotidian and non-quotidian aspects of my life and that will serve as my response to your post about pets.-Ron

Ron, Thanks for your latest input...
Any other pet lovers or former pet lovers out there?

Re: "Chat Spot"
I'm sure there are millions, Chat spot, of pet lovers. Man's best friend, for many is the dog; for others it is the cat and for still others: the bird, the snake, the rabbit---I think that covers all the one's in my area of Tasmania. I trust you will get some responses on this subject.-Ron

Re: "Chat Spot"
Well, I've given folks a week to respond to my query about pet ownership.
Only one person answered, so I will change that subject...
A) Does anyone know when Litkicks.com & more specifically "Action Poetry" will
be back on the net? It suddenly disappeared off the net & an amazon ad for
Televisions is in its place.
B) Levi Asher, the CEO, can't be contacted at any of his old e-mail addresses. Is he totally on Twitter & Facebook, now? None of his old emails work.
... C) Hello, out there in the net, to Levi Asher... What's up with Litkicks, now? Is it just gone or what? According to the
site, the new version was supposed to be up this month...I know these things take time...just wondering...I am a member & fan of Litkicks.com.

Re: "Chat Spot"
I can't help you with Litkicks.com & more specifically "Action Poetry" on the net, Chat Spot, but I am having a similar experience with relation to everyone going onto Facebook and Twitter. I always try to respond to people who write to me first at Social Networking Sites(SNS), but I do not initiate or respond to every Tom-Dick-and-Harry whose post I see at Facebook or My space, some other SNS, or some other site that is not a SNS.
I now have over 100 'friends' at Facebook. Most of these 115, at last count, more than 90, are people I do not know since so many individuals and organizations are going onto these SNS. Of the other 25, only a few, a very small handful, are frequent Facebook posters. Each of these people whom I do not know, as well as those whom I do, have asked me at some time in the six years I've been at Facebook to include them in my list of 'friends.'
Interested in extending my internet readership, an extension that now engages in many different ways, with at least a million if not many more----I have always consented. There are also dozens, perhaps 100s since it is impossible for me to know, of others who access my profile at Facebook and then write to me personally on many of the topics.
I have, therefore, listed in my now lengthy thread at my website under the heading: Psychology Relationships: http://www.ronpriceepoch.com/PSYCHOLOGY ... ships.html all sorts of topics.
We each have to work out how to deal with this new world in cyberspace that's for sure, Chat Spot. I hope you get some response to this recent post of yours. I have a myriad posts now on the WWW to which noone responds.-Ron

Apparently Levi was just updating his software. The link is working now Steve. I am happy to report. You know I was bummed to think the site was gone even if I am barred for life from litkicks. I still have fond memories of good times there back when it was more spontaneous. The Action Poetry archive from that time is a national treasure as is the Haiku board.

I'll have to come to this section the next time I respond to one of your posts, Steve, instead of the other spot on this site. I have a Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/ ....but I don't get much more action on my page, in terms of people who write to me, that you do, in this thread. "Such is life," as the Australian outlaw Ned Kelly is reported to have said on his way to the gallows in NSW in 1880.-Ron
