Mem Sophie

Her smile, what was all she wrote she was a rebel's angel
bohemian chancy dancer a devil's party fancy romancer
thrift store clown shoes where not bird shit boots

was the poem I was typing my words around
she came to me like a surrealist dream
her mermaid eyes said more then I
her ocean made me want to cry a moon
her dark cloud of hair draped a moon face

we wandered the cool days was never a moment
when I did not want to kiss her everywhere
and her lips always showed me the holy door
she looked tempting when she laid on the bed
I listened to what she said could be speaking from beyond

how mysterious was her merest gesture
she left her careless clothes laying on the floor
left her trinkets laying in the chaos corner
curious little messages of bits and pieces
signs an symbols of fortune teller ways
her story told of Russian mystics the music in her heart
her goodly grandmother got of the lady liberty boat

her smile sometimes was in a crazy place
her mystic look spoke of occult revolutions
was the mist inside the crystal ball
swirling in a feint flick of lavender and luck
of sweet sensual enchantments
my funny tramp ragamuffin time-traveler other-half
as she jazz walks me through the hole in my head

her voice follows me down Haight street
that wandered endless alleys of love
future that exists only in books only
lonely musings are fixed in the stars
her voice floated through my too cool too
I heard her call me down by the blues river
I heard her call me down by the Nile of past lives
she always walking out of a Leonard Cohen song
seeing her from her naked behind wild mane ablaze

the day I met you is not what becomes forgotten
you came to me like a wave of infinite memory
the ragged run away beauty that surrounded you
knew no name but love drove
right through every thing you touched in me
the marvelous
I touched you like a poet's priestess breasts
I was caught in a stillness of your twilight idol gaze
everything about you filled my every revery
the strange wild flower days followed us

we were so amazed to see each other this time around
