Re: Bandit Notions
" And perhaps they wouldn't have admitted as much - a thought too radical for a hunter's world - but they were enjoying the chase for its own sake. Playing, almost. Lapine casting a glance over her shoulder, almost locking eyes with the enemy, almost getting the ghost of a smile in return.
Sanctuary - Paul Monette
If this were a poem she would be an art student in Jerusalem balancing her panel on her knees as light rose off of her. Light even coming off the back of her neck. Hair in heavy braids.
Paintings hung on the wall to the side of her done by other students. She is not looking at them at all so focused on her own work. But she is dreaming of a beach somewhere too where she sits leaning her back against a fence and wearing a black lace beach shawl - something her grandmother always wanted but never got to do. Her grandmother spoke Polish & Romanian & French & Yiddish & a bit of real Hebrew too. Her grandfather was 100% Hebrew but her grandmother was half Gypsy. She had nine children only one of which made it past 1945 alive.
If this were a poem she would be an art student in Jerusalem in an act of balance. From the wall to her side a painting of a Spanish farmer watches her. He wonders how he came to be here. On a wall of a classroom in an art school in Jerusalem. His dreams and his whole world gone flat. Two-dimensional. Spiritually oblique. Some days he can almost remember the paint drying around him trapping him in this place forever. Some days he remembers he had an orchard of peach trees and another of olive trees. He has a book held closely to his chest. One could think because he holds it so close to his heart that it is a Bible. But it's not. It's a book about Gypsies. He wrote it himself. In 1892.
In the City of Lights in 1936 a woman walks down the street in a black dress adjusting her neckline with one hand. In the other hand she holds a purse made from fur. The walls between the storefront shops are covered in huge posters advertising everything from the national lottery to bread & wine & places where fine dining is to be found. The woman in the black dress is wearing a hat. In fact everyone on the street, men & women, they are all wearing hats. But up & down that whole street there isn't a single Gypsy in sight.
There are no Gypsies in Japan. Never has been. Not in 1892 or 1921 or 1936 & not today. There are only geisha in boats, some sitting, some kneeling, some standing & all of them riding down the swift flowing rivers together in open boats.

Re: Bandit Notions
Remember that thread all googlebots?
Sometimes when I get bored I sit here and think up Google search terms
today it was:
golem and corporate personhood
Corporate polluters like Monsanto.
Like the old west when the white folks would poison the wells of those pesky red skins.
Just pissing in the wind
I am just pissing in the water supply.
So go the tadpoles so go I
"Jesus Christ died for nothing I suppose, John Prine"

Blue. Blat! Hunky Dory birds & everybody else moving to North Carolina. Even Jesus Christ moving to the North Carolina.
Woman sends me the sound of the rain in an email. I click on it and get the sound of rain.
The sound of rain in my mail. Made by a bunch of folks using only their hands & feet for thunder. I get a chance I'll post the thing. I want to click on an email and have a whole caravan come pouring out, camels, camel drivers, goods, tents, dancing girls, and all. With Jimmy Morrison singing about every bit of it.
Along the Silk Road Marco Polo orders a pizza for the Emperor of China. I think I'm gonna work parttime for the Corps of Discovery. A Louis & Clark gig. Got my application in.
"Please inform President Jefferson I have reached the Pacific but I won't be retuning to St. Louis with the rest of the Corps. Also, I am taking the Indian woman with me but not in her former capacity of guide. I'm sure you understand, Mr. Presdident.
Best regards, the mingo - "
listening to dead men sing

Yeah thinking about trying to get back on the road a little bit, if I can just make another fifty a week I could make it, but I blow twenty five bucks a week on cigarettes and another 15 on tea. So who am I bullsh*tting.
saw a good real good show last night about our best friends
Deconstructing the Dog
One guy said they are smarter than chimps, talks about wolves too, not too many predators that are social and hunt by day.'
You lucky son of a gun the only emails I get from women start out like this
"Hi There,..."
,
sorry about the user name
I forgot who I was this morning
another good morning in the republic of paradise, strange patch of cool weather in July in Texas
no complaints about that

Crack me up - email was from an old flame from high school - she lives a few miles down the river these days - we email back & forth, been doing that for years - let me see if I can copy & paste that rain vid she sent me -
sorry Jack, can't seem to figure it out ... computer can make me feel thick from time to time
I have seen two enlightening programs on dogs - one from Nova and the other from PBS I think - history/prehistory - the one showed how dogs watch our eyes for cues to our emotional states - they gave ya some vid on that and to actually see it in action knocked me back a bit - another sequence had to do with pointing at something - dogs understand what me mean by this gesture - chimpanzees don't - I've checked it out with my own dog - I point at something and he responds by looking or going in the direction I point or I point at an old track on the ground that has no scent anymore making it effectually invisible to his attention and he will come over and check it out ... it makes me wonder how long it took for the wolves to become so attuned to us - it just boggles my mind how that gets passed down among the dogs - maybe just by being born into this relationship that exists between us - i don't know - I've had this coon hound going on two years now - he has gotten me attuned to his emotional conditions too - sometimes makes me wonder who the real dog is, me or him - ha
I'm gonna go check out that Deconstructing the Dog you sent - see if I can find it on tu-yube don't know if I've seen it yet -

op-ed piece
washingtonpost this morning
"We blew it in 1776"
Wonder what they meant?
We could have been Canadians?
patriotism
I always get sentimental on the fourth of july
We are all Romney's 47% here in Bush country.
<><><><>><<>>..
A Family 4th with Sly and the family stone
little rock and roller talking about social security he is thirty
they say the fund is good to 2033 when it might have to be cut to 75% of current
We get onto a conservation about where the money went
and I say the government borrowed it to pay for general expenses like the DOD
I really don't know. Is that the problem or is it demographics?
And then we get to talking about raising the age to 70. And he tells me about a 78 year old construction worker who lost his ID and could not get onto an air force base where he was working a construction job.
The only photo id he had was a mug shock from Bexar county from 1980 when he was arrested for stabbing a guy 18 times. They let him on base with it. It was a great picture the way my little rock and roller described it. He had a Huey Lewis hair cut, a black eye and he was wearing one of those fancy suits and shirt and tie.
I wish I had it for an avatar.

Re: Bandit Notions
Back in the day when I was a young hippie child- and the grateful dead pulled up to the commune in buses on acid- I felt sure that wavy gravy s " nobody for president" was " it" ! I have stopped rolling down the coaster of political satire and wit- I think that trying to be for the greater whole has not been easy for any of these guys that started out wanting this beautiful euphoric goverment changes- and became corrupted by the game- whether it happened a long the way-
And how my politics have changed- like an old woman on the porch- planting seeds in a greenhouse- bat shit for spirituality -
Perhaps the walls between politics and spirituality should crumble and merge- that does not mean all of us holding hands on the White House lawn- and singing Kim- by- a-
But that I - or - WE the people could behave with kindness to each other- mmmm politics of sharing-'

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
Re: Bandit Notions
hell were up down all around the places we passed through ain't no more the years have swept it all away as these days are swept and will be swept and all our trails will disappear as if they had never been walked - since I'm headed for an unknowable future I keep my eyes there with hope
and wait for it
and wait for it

there are prepper food companies and i are on a 'first name basis' i just cooked red rice and red peppers and i feel that new orlean s katrina would be a good name for it- like a cajun woman stepped in and said 'lemme do that mam'
then the long night of dance
fever like crept up on ya like dat
sometimes it is like that
cooking from an area- like the dance of those flavors come to visit me-cocunut califlower soup reminded me of india and the women with red dots between their eyes- and = then the long necked woman in thailand- dunno- i think it is already 'happening' if ya know what i mean-some kind of telepatic converserion- of all minds and hearts becoming one-even if it only for a minute-
