Re: I think I just discovered america
i have the same feeling these days ...
in 8th-grade american history, when we were studying w.w.2, one guy used to remark over and over that "we should have just gone in and conquered the world" right after the war--- until finally the teacher told him to cool it. well ... not to worry. "taking over the world" was always on the table, and remains there. we would go about it differently than other world conquerors however--- nothing quite so "blatant," but a whole behind-the-scenes comprehensive, covert-and-overt plan ...
has nothing to do with golems i suppose, but then, the title of your post ...

Re: I think I just discovered america
My earliest memories are from the war years. Back then I knew for sure that all the evil in the world was in Germany and Japan.
“… the modern corporation as an institution is entitled to much more
respect than it has frequently received. The dangers inherent in its use
are also great enough to require serious attention. The possibilities of its
continued development are, so far as one can see, unlimited. It is, in
fact, an institution at a cross road in history, capable of becoming one of
the master tools of society—capable also of surprising abuse; worthy of
the attention of the community as well as of scholars.” .—
Gangs of America: the Rise of Corporate Power and the Disabling of Democracy
I wonder if the concept of "corporate personhood" is unique to the USA?
Since corporations are entitled to their rights under the 14 amendment do they also have freedom of religion?
and the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made

Re: I think I just discovered america
that's a very good quote. we've thrown in so heavily with the corporate global capital machine (and maximum efficiency of extraction) as "the answer," that it has become 'communistic" to question anything about the movement.

Court Confronts Religious Rights of Corporations
By ADAM LIPTAK
The Supreme Court will decide whether to hear an appeal of a ruling that a company could limit insurance for contraception on religious grounds.
The appeals court disagreed, ruling that Hobby Lobby is a “person” for purposes of the relevant federal law, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993.
