the black skull was a road
the cigarette was a weapon
the diamond was a spoon
the moon was a spittoon
the road was a rattle
the poem is not a tattle tail
the snake was green as far as I have seen
the desert was a secret way through
the veil of rain I think I shall go insane
the leaves are turned in vain
the traffic seems to go by itself
without any direction to Rome
if all roads lead there
we should reconsider our travel plan
just because the mad Magus is among us
it's that dog head god looking out for us
when the mummies come home
and the black sands this too shall pass
and the grass is greener on the other side
of the afterlife
