Some kind of crossroads
Has entered
Unannounced
That which was
Will be what has been
Hard to move on
But necessary
Simple man
Singing same songs.....still
In it for the long haul
Next incarnation in an instant
Life is change
Acceptance is the key
Jam be the vehicle
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

crossroads for me
looking both ways
and still I miss it

acceptance to change
is life
I been init for a longer haul than I ever imagined
reincarnation from moment to moment
a man goes to war and writes a book about a crazy kid
three people are murdered one of them john lennon
and I would rather be thin than famous

I would like to be in it for the long haul
but my haul is getting shorter
cause I am not dancing enough
cant save a saint
but I could save myself

maybe I am having too much fun

I need to hear the music of the falling rain
just one more time
and smell the smoke of the leaves in the fall
just one more year that's all
well maybe just five more
eighty, how could I bitch about eighty
yeah a pirate looks at eighty

been fun
been sweet
and it still is
because I have seen by the light
of a jam

going to lay down and cover up
got to get away from this cold draft in here

snow falling on field & forest
street & town
bones in the earth
snow falling ...
first thought - the squalor of secrets -
the tolerant hills
snow falling on the hills -
my sister digging into the past
finding grandmothers scalped
in King Phillip's War ( Meta-co-met's War)
finding revolution
& great grandfathers that fought it
before there was any declaration
before there even was a country
fought & gave blood for an idea that had no flag
standing on the bridge at Lexington
at Concord
at Breed's Hill
& Bunker Hill
losing Boston but keeping the British fearful of going outside it
losing Philadelphia but wintering over at Valley Forge
eating their shoes for breakfast
shopkeepers - ship's carpenters - farmers - indentured servants -
George Washington & the slave who rode with him
the whole length of the war -
we are not here disconnected
we are not here alienated
those are modern bankruptcies that don't
have anything to do
with the truth
there are bones in the earth
the sign of full lives - signs of given lives
there are bones in the earth
they are our bones as much as the bones
of those we came from -
our bones -
& this is my jam this evening
with snow falling on field & forest
street & town
snow falling on the tolerant hills
snow falling straight down
snow falling thick
snow piling up fast
without a sound ...
the greatest jam ever to come of a non-divine origin
from the heart, mind, soul, & hand of mere mortal man
contains these words:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident"

i'd be dancing on the beach
if i had one
it would still be the middle of winter though
dark haired girl dancing
slow notes of a horn
coming from somewhere over the waves
well it's a history
shadow on the wall
crazy good shit
horn fading like a moving off train
taking from what's happening
right in front of you
to keep itself going
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

what's happening?
wouldn't we like to know
some lean on the everlastin
some lean on the truth and
I like to think about the world in which we lost that god dam war in 1776
and slavery would have ended thirty years sooner and we would have never fought the bloodiest war in our history cause we would have all been Canadians.

but that is just me leaning on my own prejudices cause no matter how much my sister digs she will never find the scalp of her great grandmother
she is dust in the wind.

morning is shinning over the republic of desire
Texas weather can be so boring and so interesting
watching the seasons alternate from day to day from winter to spring to seven four degrees to twenty four degrees. it is a brand new world and nobody knows what is going to happen except for the forlorn rags of old age if we are very lucky. Wait up Lew, wait for me.

free my mind
the rest will follow
history is bunk
those who remember it
are doomed to repeat it
who has time enough for experience
we knowers are unknown to ourselves
we miscount the strokes of the bell
that tolls for thee
oh can you see

it is half past studio eight
and I am beat to the bone

Written in 2 rooms
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a world of teachers we stumble
through the clouds
Depths small to say the least
Same old hum of fan
Heater on full tilt
Got my nest warming up
Got my mind on full
Maybe need to clear
Blank
these things like tombstones
first thought springs up
& dies in the same instant
these words mark the trail
of moving on
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
Froze
Literally
No escaping it day
Back to cave
Toasty & thawing
My hands get coldest
Feet ok
I wear hand warmers
inside gloves
Jam alive
Is there any other way?
Thinking about my different lives
How many have there been
Been on a 17 year run this time
Plenty of changes within the span
Funny thing is there was a 17 year
span before this one, woulda made
Me 26 when that one started
I stayed in the same job
through 3 marriages
Been an artist and played the blues
the whole time too
What's this getting at?
Nothing much, really
Moving into wiser, calmer, & accepting time
I'll take that and Jam with it
tea goes cold in cup
before i can get to the bottom -
ice everywhere
cold penetrating the walls
ground a rock
can't take much more of global warming -
nothing above ground moving
not even the birds
not so much
no tracks in the snow
0.7 degrees
9:05 a.m.
bombing the boom
broom frozen to the wall
nothin' to do but let it be
if i had a cave
i'd be in it deep
paintin' the walls with magic marks
callin' on the spirits
callin' on the spirits
