[saw]

this mouse in my kitchen
evolving quicker than I am,
they tell you you can't build a better mousetrap

that its simplicity is botticellian
yet this mouse will have none of that shit
he eats everything in my pantry

that hasn't been stored in a strongbox
guarded by an electric fence
with razor wire on top

this gray little einstein
eschews the delicious peanut butter
I have generously left for him

albeit on a spring-loaded dinner table
a bountiful portion,I tell you
this rodent is breathing rarefied air

no matter how I tempt him
he fully understands the dangers
of trusting men

I had them too. Wiped them out. Took ages. Fine poem.
