Man's fired embers dance in war
Betrothed in passion, love and gore
These reddened faces hissing speak
Far more than Hades' ancient Greek
When Waterloo saw cannons blow
And Stalingrad still burned aglow
Great tundra winds with Russian pace
Bought victory with murd'rous grace
Ice merely shrinks when wreathed in flame
Though Cold and Death are never tamed
Heat softens ice in sets of three
Yet moistened flames won't flicker free
'Cause even when Earth's fate is taught
By missiled rocks the Heavens wrought
They puncture, thrusting sizzles deep
Melt many on this great blue heap
These cracks that carve our coffin dens
Are chips from Hades' folly grin
'Cause reigns of heat will never keep
'Tis Cold where Death selects to reap

This was a contest entry for the "Allwrite Magazine~In the Dark" April Poetry contest. The winner gets published and this one finished in second place (don't know if this one will be published too, but sometimes the third and second place poems get published so...). The theme was fire and ice.
