Josie, I never forgot you - you never made it to your 30th year and now I am twice that plus change - this song here fits you and the whole thing between us to a T and it's right that I remember you this day for another 4th of July weekend all those decades ago in San Francisco - you took a heart in your hands at great cost to yourself that had been burned & twisted by unspeakable atrocity & war - some of that atrocity was my own - and helped it begin it's journey back to humanity & manhood - not even the headdoc's at the VA could do that - you made me touch it, you made me face it, you made me talk of it & you made me tell you and you made yourself still and listened to all the seething dark inside of me - then you held me with all of yourself again & again & again -

I never forgot that and I'll never forget you until my bones are dust - it's the 4th of July, Josie & the hole in my heart left by your passing so long ago is filled to overflowing -

powerful memories are tattooed in the mind to be with us until we are no more to be.

nice memorial that happened just yesterday. it's only time that puts it way back but never will that tattoo fade.

btw: I was reborn in SF during the Summer of '67.

in these mangled days
& confused by the years
it's hard to believe
we were ever young -

when we acknowledge
that we are young
time is on our side
until the day arrives
reminding us time
is running low like
a battery in a wide-up
and we decide to
either say fuck-it all
or think about leaving
our mark somewhere
on a rock in the desert
to be found by some
stranger 200 yrs later
wondering what who..?

chimeras -
& the wanderings of ghosts with chalk in their hands
true it is - nothing lasts
at the final departure what we find
finds us
i suspect there will be for most
some surprise

Put off mowing the grass for a month now - went to do it this morning but the battery is dead Jim - without humor none of this would be remotely possible - laughing all the way to the grave

folks say just keep swimming or keep on truckin or chin up, lad or ... i think to myself, what would Genghis Khan do?

fuck-a-de & fuck-a-do

got a pumpkin skeleton man hanging off the handlebars of my bike - made from plastic ( hey, magic is magic ) pumpkin head on a skeleton body about 4 inches tall all of it orange colored -
the head has one of those clown-scary smiles on its face - other day a woman asked me what it was -
i said - "It's a fetish"
"A fetish?" she replied
"Yeah" i replied, "it helps to ward off optimists"

rain all night - the sun is trying to break thru this morning

Portrait of the Emerald as a Tiger & a Hug

authorizes any drops - alternative = (communicate)
erected practical drops outside current
the emerald becomes irreplaceable
(having tiger cheap particular bible tongue)
come we rain individual outside of a constituting metaphor
the need is a naming - irreplaceable of world
and bible it like as my which -
it's all babbling up to & out to many points
now into the tiger, we pour the metaphor my people communicate
and desire, for the time being, is eternal
of a people & practical of language - rain into the end
Hank Williams had the tiger tongue the out tongue the tongue current
the tiger established the world with a metaphor tongue
a has word itself & me with into tongue
a tongue deepest off & naming the hugging not as cheap
but irreplaceable
