drawing

Post by saw » August 12th, 2014, 6:25 am

I doodled
nonsense
'cause I had nothin' to say
sketched
little nothings
to mitigate
persistent discomfort
the widespread numbness,
the grand canyon void....
but that was a long time ago

most memories long faded
pale gray ash
but I remember, can see
me
doodling, like watching a film
of myself
up there on the big screen
in technicolor
me
drawing
simplistic flowers
schoolboy faces
me
drawing
shallow breaths
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

i once showed a self portrait,
4th grade,
to my brother.

he laughed:
"you're still ugly!"
he said through a smile

i replied:
yea, but everybody says i look like you!

by the way, the whole idea of "shallow breaths" is important here, me thinks. and i'm glad you saved that for your final goodie.

it is hard work to be mindful of every breath, and really go deeply into the thing. it is also lackluster to not notice any of your breaths.

but a happy medium might be simply remembering every breath is a miracle and holds the universe in its hands. when at all possible.

peace to you!
