times turn
watchin 60's
home movies
people with beers
in their hands
instead of iphones
joking, joshing, laughing
answering the ?
how did we survive
before our mobile devices
a lady reads esquire magazine
the kids frolick in the sand
dive in the waves
beauties squint their eyes
make pouty lip faces
for the camera
more beer and hot dogs
not a single beard
lots a dyed hair
and scarves
old times good times
holiday weekend 2014
summers end
pools closing
hot as hades here
as it should be
jam sizzling
time for brunch soon
looking for a cookout
a game of cornhole
some beautiful company
take some time to celebrate
the living and jam!!!
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

not a single beard
lots a dyed hair
and scarves
that's right that's right!
that's a sign from when it was
grab that cookout my friend
here in the dwindle days of summer
out on the road up here
already got fallen leaves in places
they make that crunch sound
when my wheels pass over them
silent before the awesome
can't believe this whole world
not only spins in space
but rocks back & forth at the same time
i was born at midsummer
but i love the autumn
the mingle
the turn
the visible change
and the jam that don't tinker
with the flow
eat that hotdog
and serve the word
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

heading out myself
for a twilight ride
feel cooped-up
penned in
disgusted with i don't know what
love the kindle myself
for the ease
i can get anything ordered
into the palm of my hand
and the enlargement feature is sweet
us aging warriors
each year hung from our belts
and our lodges
soon enough we'll be visiting the camps of our ancestors
and of those we have loved
up there in the sky as the Indians tell it
i don't know about all that
but . . .
anyways, gotta roll
be pitch dark by the time i get back
dance that dance

journey to glide
where we going?
nobody knows
aint no need
to care
set me free
ahhhhhh
set me free
on with the flow
we b in the
land of jam
sticky on the
way to the
lickity splickty
slippin n a slidin
aint no need
to b hidin
got them hounds
on my trail
just gonna keep
movin n wail
like the wolf
like the trickster
coyote
like the morning
dove
at the break a dawn
bring on the night
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

just back from the night run
last of the summer moons in the sky
i pull over & watch her for awhile
watch as the stars begin
to appear up there with her
hear the cicadas in the trees
the crickets in the grass
no other traffic
i came for this

looking forward
to the predawn moon
stars that shout
to be seen above
the freeway din
cars wooshing by
becoming one rush
as the sun rises
a faint glimmer of
a native land playing
at the edge of night
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

poems in their pockets
jam in their hands
the dancers take their places
whole world a huge conversation
and games everywhere
same name on every tombstone
"in the name of the flow"
cross town old man Frank
smokes his weed
when new tenants moved in upstairs
he took to walking over to the railroad tunnel
past the thrift sore
and smoking there because
he didn't know if the new tenants
were cool
motion makes for changes
changes give birth to motion
synapses go on go off
paths crosslots get worn onto the earth
give testimony to motion
to need
to desire
on the banks of the stream
the deer poke their heads
out of the thick brush
looking - listening -
in every direction
before lowering their heads
having come to drink
out on the shoulder of the highway
lies the body of a crow
its carcass picked nearly clean
the skull is still there
i'll give it a few more days in the
wind & rain & sun
but i want that bird's skull
to hang from
the handlebars
of my bike
back in the wind
looking down on the earth
passing beneath
who decides these things?
which event in what order?
which word where?
remembering love
out on copperhead road
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

deep down rush
of love
take my breath
away love
love returned
to have this
is ecstacy
down wind
up wind
ride
then u glide
like an eagle on high
saw em flying
warm currents
out on seneca road
big wild turkeys
necks entwined
sparring for love
big horn sheep
buttin heads for love
its all about love
till u just cant
stand it no mo

tonight i turned my headlight off
& rode by the bright light of a half-moon -
had the stars for roadbuddies too - the air is crystal clear
stars & moon seemed so bright -
the whir of my wheels & the crickets were the only sounds
- waiting on coffee now - then some online chess -
no billionaires up this way
got lotsa coyotes though
