storied corner that

hands during the civil war
frederick town held for ransom
the south threatening
to burn it to the ground
unless they paid up
and they did with laundry
baskets full of yankee dollars

just back on the train
lookin like its gonna rain
washin away the past
a bit at a time
till the future is the now
