the walk of life

Post by saw » November 17th, 2014, 2:24 pm

you always walked so erect
a dancer's grace on an unforgiving concrete pathway
an enigma to a boy like me
that seemed to be on the same schedule

your long black hair pulled back
a ponytail bobbing like a charmed cobra,
you seemed from a distance to be wearing
a perpetual grin, like you alone had a very special secret

I saw you as a woman with a purpose
making spirited footprints with rhythm and determination,
you were clearly a gifted walker....
and I thought to myself, one day I would like to follow you

to find out what would happen
if I put my feet in all the exact same spots
with just the right tempo and feather touch
could I reach the same euphoric travelocity

but I was always in my stupid car
on the way to work, on the way home...
then one day after many calender pages
had been torn down and discarded

you were gone
never to bless the sidewalk again,
and I fell into a profound sadness...
because I never knew your name
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

this one broke my heart!

very keen recognition here tho!

"a ponytail bobbing like a charmed cobra"

and

"you seemed from a distance to be wearing
a perpetual grin, like you alone had a very special secret"

yea!

i've loved a few women from a distance too.

go on with your bad self, saw!

Liked this. Some women get your imagination going---in a lot of ways.

And the sadness----I think we have all been there one time or another.
