My idea of a super bowl is a toilet that cleans itself. ;) I like your poem, though... just not much into football. Hope you all enjoy it if you watch it today.... it is today, right?

I don't know how many women have come forward to state that cosby drugged them and raped them but there have been a LOT and I suspect there are more to come. I'm glad that story came out because the rape culture seriously needs to be addressed! Those women were damaged for the rest of their lives. There's no way there would be so many women speaking out about it if it wasn't true.

The whole world is an ugly spectacle of greed and egotism and other disgusting things. Companies that use employees likes slave labor paying them a wage they can't survive on, countries that invade and bomb and kill innocent civilians in order to occupy and steal resources, the greedy wealthy 1% who won't give their fair share to the community, the rampant poverty, people left starving, the elderly left to die ... there's a huge amount of material to write about.... the pop culture is just a stupid reflection of it all. As for football, one of the reasons I choose not to watch it has to do with the exorbitant amount of money wasted on it for the spectacle of it, the advertising of it, the gambling associated with it. All that money could be spent to help people.... for education, housing, food, clothing...to rebuild the infrastructure... bridges are collapsing, for crissake. Society as a whole, throughout the world, turns my stomach. I literally feel like regurgitating sometimes. War after war after war after war. If I didn't take some time every day to be grateful for the little things in life and what I'm blessed to have (a roof over my head, food ... most of the time), etc.... I'd literally go nuts. I don't know who those two guys are but if they're humorists, I could use a good laugh. Thanks.

Football, is about war. "War is a racket", as a famous marine general said, Smedley Butler, 1935. Football might be exciting to watch, and so was "shock an awe" on TV news. War is about the one percent, or the one percent of the one percent. Blow up things, and get rich building it up again. After we had the " war to end all wars" we had the war to end the planet.
And the nuclear arsenal is more dangerous then it ever was."Same as it ever was"

thanks for the poem.

Yeah I love watching martial arts. But Football, was never my thing, Maybe because I was not a big bruiser. I was more a baseball person. Actually I hated sports in high school, because I did not get along with the P.E. coaches. It was the late sixties, and they were always telling me to get a hair cut. 8)

I like watching the X Sports... the kids who do tricks with bikes and skateboards, flips and amazing stunts!

Football is definitely about war. .... also it's about nationalism, sort of. It's a microcosm for nationalism. "OUr team is better than your team." I used to watch the redskins when I was young... a long time ago... but mostly it was just an excuse to hang out with friends and drink beer. I don't drink beer any more. Maybe I should. It has more nutritional value than wine or vodka. I used to watch basketball with my dad. That was fun because it was something we enjoyed together. Baseball bores the hell out of me. It's too slow. I'm a big fan of the Olympics. I especially like gymnastics and figure skating. But the Olympics, too, piss me off because of the HUGE amount of money spent on the big opening extravaganza. When I see things like that, I think of the homeless and those living in poverty and so many better ways to use the money.
