the heebee jeebee's are upon me
words coming in like
waves on the shore
i'm out there radio receiving
all frequencies open
werewolfing the slipstream

A similar thing happened to me.
I fell into a deep deep sleep.

Oh, how I wished the TV off
since murder crimes crept in my dream,

I reached the remote to close it down
awoke in crave of sweet ice cream.

And now I'm wide awake, no smidge
of ice cream found within the fridge.

I long to write dull poetry.
So sleep will soon come back to me.

You don't seem to be able to do that
dull poetry thing
sometimes long poetry maybe
- 8)

Aww, thanks, about the not dull. :)

But since my poems are usually not so long,
they maybe just SEEM that way because they're boring.

I've written long ones but usually they're short enough to fit on
a page at 14-20point type for reading. Longest poem
I ever wrote I timed at 3-1/2 minutes. Most run 1-1/2- 2.

Oh,but yeah, I do write some LONG rants with interior rhyme sometimes.
Maybe I should stick with haiku.

(This is a chat post, not a poem.) :D

Maybe you're right,
it's so late at night,
I don't know long from short and might
decide to try to pen a piece
that takes at least a month to read.

I'll format it as if it's prose
and send it off all of those
in manuscript selection charge.
Into the office, I will barge,
of a major house of publishing
and tell the man, "Please read this thing" —
I'll beg and plead and yes, I'll grovel
and convince him it's a best-selling novel.

Perhaps I'll earn some royalties
for my long-winded poetry!
And so I'm grateful for direction.
From here on out, I have no doubt
my books will be in the fiction section!

It's even quite possible that a novelist
might make more bread than a columnist.

i've never tried to write
anything of any length
i couldn't keep
a straight face that long
even haiku seems sometimes
too long to me
i was just poking fun at you
because you've said it yourself -
i think i write just because
i wanna make marks
on a wall
or tree
or stone
whatever is to hand
i mean that pleases me
in a way nothing i've ever written ever has
i may be on my way
to becoming totally asemic in word & deed
and a better man for it

blue snow
coming down
snow devil liberation
whirlwind
sick as sex game fame
backspace all pirate fantasies
earth chases sun
moon chases earth
bigger battery = shorter ramp-up time
electricity is jam vibration
push that button all the way to contact
tripping the slang gods
we've sent probes all the way to pluto
to check the shape of pornography there
hurricane sanities for breakfast
dance the beach where columbus lands
o yes we can
endless frogs threaten us
from the banks of the Nile
my dog says no water in his bowl
get this whole thing together
move it all down the road
face the mirror
and think it's female
the reactor is online
lets lay it down
and do it up fine
pile up the poems
paint the bones
my giraffe is a real foo-fighter !

I joke about my lengthy poems
in memory of of Clay.
He'd always say
my way of editing
was to add a stanza
or two. He was a funny guy,
just like you.

Just awoke at noon.
Didn't fall asleep 'til dawn.
My days and nights are reversed, it seems.
I don't know what is going on.

He was joking, that Merry Prankster.

I often edited his work for him to add stanza breaks prior to putting his works into books (like our anthology), thus making the poem look like I added stanzas. I also took the liberty to add punctuation, where i thought it would be helpful. He liked my editing skills. Text editing has been part of my work for over 22 years. Not for poems to be posted on the net, but for poems to be printed, or even read for a recording, he allows me to edit his work by adding the breaks (for reading breaths), as well as punctuation and to correct his spelling, among other things. "I give you full control over my material," he said.

8)

EDIT: to add a paragraph. haha
Of course, he also saw me edit my own work, changing the stanza breaks, the line breaks, and yes, even adding a stanza at the end to pull it all together. He asked me why I fussed over it so much. I said I wanted it to be the best it could be. He liked that I was diligent in this respect. He told me he never saw a more hard working woman in his life... for my day job and for my poetry. .... but it was a funny joke, for sure. :)

I went to the dentist
but they refused to scrape
my teeth since I didn't
take my meds,
shoulda stayed in bed.
Mitral valve prolapse
for 30 years, gotta take
antibiotics before my
teeth get cleaned.
The hygenist wasn't angry.
The dentist wasn't mean.
They just told me to go home
and call my doc, I groked it, man.
Damn, grok grok grok.
Heinlein got in my head
i've been a stranger in a
strange land since I was born.
Every time I wake up, every morn,
it's somethin... it's always somethin,
as Gilda used to say when she played
Roseanna Roseannadanna, makes me laugh
each time I think of her. Cancer took her
too soon. I read her bio she wrote
before she left. Gotta write mine
my time is comin'. Oh yeah and I mailed
my valentine to this man of mine, sailed
it right on out via the cold blue skies....
can't wait to look in his eyes.
My invisible man. Gotta wait 'til April,
the Coolest Month.
