the perfect ones

Post by saw » February 8th, 2015, 12:22 pm

just what is it,
what do I want to say ?
it's not that simple you know

feelings deep as canyon floors
aren't always easily expressed
from the flat land at the top of the rim

maybe there are no words
did you ever think of that ?
I mean, there really are no rules

no guarantees
that words will come one day
perfect in every sense of the word

pardon my redundancy
I would have said it better
if I knew how

but those words...
the perfect ones,
have not made themselves known to me

so I will plug away
this journeyman seeker,
there are still so many caves to explore

and I have proven without a doubt
I can crawl on my belly with the best of them,
and when I find them

the perfect ones,
I will know them at any age
always the dreamer, this boy
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

There are no perfect ones. There are many possibilities, but no perfect ones. Oh, and you'll know the right words to say when the time comes. How do I know that? 'Cause you're the real deal. You're honest and true to yourself and you're a wordsmith, to boot.

thanx doreen for your kind assessment...means a lot, as I see you as someone with immense talent in so many areas...yeah, i know there is nothing perfect...and I guess the idea of the poem was to say just that....as a carpenter I feel I have never done a perfect job, but that ends up being the very thing that keeps you striving for quality....I always shoot for perfect, and I have found out if you shoot for perfect, you will invariably turn out some pretty damn good work ( but not perfect, ha)

same with any art, do your best, have fun, try to be original...and revel in the process
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
