lucky

Post by saw » February 12th, 2015, 3:42 pm

hard physical toil
all I know
it began eons ago

my grandfather
my father
we all worked with our hands

very long days
sometimes all seven
over and over

seems normal to me
but there is this new side
that is OK with resting

and he's gaining ground
in all the inner polls
he's charismatic

this new face,
he's got the gift of gab
he's very convincing

but there are the bills
the difference between home and homeless
so I do it again

and I know in the end
I am lucky
to be able
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Crack me up - but true for sure - my woman bringing in most of the money these days - my SS pays the rent and that's about it - so much for those "golden years" 8)
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

yeah mingo, I'm living alone...getting SS and still working.....the downside of divorce at a late age means many opportunities have long since passed you by....I think the golden years need to to be changed to the golden showers...ha ha....oh well, i intend to keep pluggin' away til I can no longer make it....and then rely on the kindness of strangers...I feel that warm shower

not feeling sorry for myself....have 3 great kids and a grandson, great siblings, terrific friends

life is good !

keep on truckin' !
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I liked your poem, Steve. You're definitely lucky.

Lucky is as Lucky does. Neighbors had a dog named Lucky when I was a kid. It ran away. Julie, the neighbor girl, cried for a week. Her Dad brought her another. They named it Unlucky, figured it may stick around a bit longer.

I saw my dad going off to his aircraft factory job everyday
as a kid, I said, " when I grow up I will be just like my dad"
..."a no good bum" I was not like my dad, but I became
a poet bum.
