marigolds
Re: marigolds
I never plant Marigolds here in the northland until late summer. They can survive a couple of frosts and still kick out flowers. Makes for an interesting "death" symbol. I do not understand the poem, but it is still very visual.

Re: marigolds
Sorry 68, marigolds are used in Day of the Dead ceremonies in Mexico - I did not give enough thought to the fact that the reference might not be clear cross-culturally and since you pointed it out it does make of the poem a shambles - I used the marigold to speak for the fact that a loved one was dead - to speak for that one - Many thanks for your response, and for letting me know this one could use some rethink - what would I do without you guys?

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Re: marigolds
Day of the Dead is a fascinating ritual....sugar skulls and marigolds to entice the departed souls to visit their loved ones....it's interesting that the marigolds are used as an attractant, given they are said to be a repellent to insects when planted around vegetable gardens....hmmm
once again the simplicity of the poem offers infinite possibilities
