emote

Post by saw » March 3rd, 2015, 4:56 pm

at first glance one could miss everything
the trees seem so barren, squirrels nests exposed
to the wind and the water, the ice and snow
fair game to eagles and hawks, "mama
don't let your babies grow up to be eaten"

the leaves have long since departed
decayed into this season's fertilizer
but if you look really carefully, like
the falcon and the osprey always do, you will see
buds....they are everywhere.....eager babies

bent on mass birth
soon as mother earth blows her warm breath
on their little heads, and they first poke
their flowery faces from their winter sleeping bags
it's time to wake up

burst onto the scene
like skillful actors
with an endless history of upstaging the lingering cold
shakespearean !
a flair for the dramatic
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

buds take on the task
heroes, gathering strength
in wait of their cue

The title fits well with the Shakespeare image...thousands, millions upon millions of characters just waiting to come on stage for another yearly production. Can't wait, myself.

"a flair for the dramatic" indeed.

A fun read. Made me feel good.
