All those years of blaming another
For this terrible life that he had to live
Those troubles we bring upon ourselves
By giving until there is little else to give
His captured heart and unfettered soul
So little light at the bottom of this hole
Only in dreams does his spirit soar
Art and writing provided an escape
From this life, burdensome and unkind
Living with others, but always by himself
As if there was no one else he could find
Than a cruel muse and a daughter born
All he created was critiqued with scorn
Yet this never quelled his inspiration
The evil hag’s spell was wearing off
Its disguise became all but translucent
Crippled by all that returned three fold
Imprisonment, torture and curses sent
Those fits of insane anger upon a whim
Never able to completely destroy him
Now painfully it is being pulled down
The hobbling hag's end

Re: The hobbling hag's end
Powerful story. Sad, yet somehow I feel everything the character gave to others will come back to him and he will triumph in a subsequent poem.

Re: The hobbling hag's end
no doubt that there are people in our lives that can have profoundly negative impacts on us, and in many cases we spend the best part of our lives trying to make sense of it, as we also try to heal from their influence...a gripping tale all too familiar....breaking the chains of control
