a magnifying glass

held over
one particular subject

the poet chooses
what is to be examined

focusing on
on the intricacies of
a singular thing

turning it over in his mind
to get a closer understanding

the poet is the technician
trying to analyze
to magnify

under the poet's lens
we now see
what we did not know
was even there.
