The Small Lizard Shadow of Mexico Street

Post by the mingo » July 2nd, 2015, 3:16 pm

a man reaches up to touch
circling birds - the ones close by
also the really high ones

his daughter & her friend
pose for photographers
one faces the camera
the other turns from it -

some work
some are tired
we all wear masks
to hide or honor the dead
in rooms where men
leap through lighted fountains
& the shadow of a small lizard
sticks to the ceiling
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

succinct... delivered like a finely balanced spear straight into the imagination.
