make believe gods

Post by mtmynd » June 30th, 2015, 4:39 pm

fourteen tickles and the laughter
became weak - annoyance beheaded
the comic 'til joy spread her legs
like scissors slicing thru pastel paper
making dolls standing before broken
microphones reciting grief in ancient
languages, not yet deciphered.

the moment despair made its approach
angels in black suffered paranoia
and winged serpents took flight from
their shoulders burdened by insolences
hurled thru paned glass blown by mouths
that uttered fragmentations of scriptures
before spitting fireballs into caverns

lighting the ways for snowball eyes
to resurrect the world tremors shattering
veiled dichotomies that misunderstood
from the beginning the sanctity of joy,
that elusive beast that mimicked comic book
heroes in animated positions with floral
colors mixed by the hands of drunken sailors

awaiting their shore leave to dance with whores
that demanded financial restitution in exchange
for favors offered thru hot breathing and fake
orgasms, delivered with exact timing of ejaculations,
spurting acrobatically thru midair shadow antics
enticed by frivolities of handmaidens naked
on the table tops, topless their breasts swung

in unison with music clamoring with the pain
of executional styles, the hard rock of anguish
paid no attention to the rhythms driven thru
marshall's bigger than blue cheer walls of sound,
but the romance of romance paid its dues and
piece fell upon the graves of heroism,

blanketing the anaconda in warmth and refuge...
stifling the lattice lights deftly shadowing the
cavern walls with words that meant more in symbols
than in meaning - calligraphic instances of poems
upsurged and encanted to gods of make believe.

I read your poem after writing my own today. We touch on some of the same things though in our own individual styles and approaches. I like your poem. You have a wealth of imagery. The stanza below, though maybe not the best in the poem, resonates with my innate appreciation of the sensuous and sensual----yes, your tone is satiric but the sensual is contaminated by society's manipulations and that is reason enough for satire. Maybe at heart most of us are innocent in our desires but life on earth only tolerates innocence for a short while. Perhaps our desires are like water and they pick up the dirt and contamination we pass through. Okay enough of my moralizing. Here is one of the many gems of your poem that I like:

awaiting their shore leave to dance with whores
that demanded financial restitution in exchange
for favors offered thru hot breathing and fake
orgasms, delivered with exact timing of ejaculations,
spurting acrobatically thru midair shadow antics
enticed by frivolities of handmaidens naked
on the table tops, topless their breasts swung

the connection with the stanza before and the one after is solid but I just cut this little excerpt out to show appreciation for your imaginative writing.

TYVM, TIS, for the most interesting comment. I enjoyed it greatly.

This poem was written in stream of consciousness (SOC) sometime ago. I always enjoyed that methodology but lately writer's block has 'infected' me. Other than replies and some thoughts I don't write as often as usual... and I refuse to blame it on old age!

_________

Gracias, el mingo, for the words. always appreciated!!

did you stop the psychedelics ?...is that the problem ?......very trippy in my mind

just listened to a fascinating discussion between Rupert Sheldrake and Joe Rogan (youtube)

part of it was this discussion about the hallucinogens in this plant in the middle east that may explain the reference to the " burning bush"...in the bible....there is also theories that Plato and Socrates had access ....

in any case...you have options....haha.....best of luck breaking the blockage
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
