An artist's statement says more than his art ever does

I've always felt originality trumped technique....why would I want to hang a technically sophisticated painting that is boring on my wall ?.....I look for creativity of subject.....

I went to a gallery that was showing the paintings of an established artist with a great deal of recognition who painted these huge skyscapes.....beautifully portrayed clouds with all the proper illumination, but a real one trick pony.....big clouds, nothing else to bring them to life....and I thought, this is not something I would take home even if it were given to me....I wouldn't want to look at this everyday
