simplicity gets me high

[saw]

I encourage serendipitous adventure
diving into swimming holes of bleeding watercolors
floating downstream in the low notes of the upright bass
daydreaming in the guiltless splendor of the sunning bullfrog

looong daze of toil occupied my younger work boots
dawn to dusky ends, too tired to linger in the sublime,
only enough minutes to race from Point A to Point Beat
taking most of my "meals" in the '88 Ford Econoline, van-on-the-gogh ?

but then it happened, I broke the wild stallion that everyone said
could not be broken, I roped Diablo, so we could have a conversation
began to take the opposite fork on the wrong side of the plate
delve into the still quarry pools that have no known bottom

and my eyes began to see things that were always there, missed
in the pace of the cocky hare that only relied on his sinewy legs
I learned that slow breathing invites wonder to be your dance partner
I learned that simplicity gets me high

Higher than Timothy Leary, Higher than over the counter Soma
Higher than any of the black market chemicals with sexy names
marketed as truth for children and their parents that are lost
in their nine to five sentences of no imaginations and a stash

of speed, hidden in the desperation of trying to make a buck
do what you want it to... and one never has enough doe to make
the marriage work, and so my deers, it's easy to get lost in the dysfunction
of the function-at-the-junction....that really isn't Funky Broadway at all

I'm sure I mentioned this to you..... these days.....simplicity gets me high
