the boy from the basement

Post by saw » September 6th, 2015, 6:59 pm

I've seen Mark Twain's face in the clouds
when I've taken the necessary time to lie on my back
his Stratocumulus mustache wild as a maverick mustang,
seen Franz Marc's blue horses as well, his orange cows

when I freed my imagination to embrace the seemingly impossible,
was changed forever in Jimmy Athan's basement spinning vinyl
made from Disraeli Gears, the Cream flowed like mind-magma
over tender green ears ready to chart a new course.

I've sailed the crystal-teal bathwater of the Keys, found the new
Adam and Eve running naked and smiling like terrible poker players
high on coconuts, guavas, cuban bananas and key limes, giggling
on a little, forgotten island with no plan to get home

I've snorkeled with barracudas and blacktip spinner sharks
that behaved like perfect gentlemen, cool ....to meet me in passing.
I've seen the opposite sides of coins flipped on a dare and a prayer
and had far too many land on their edge in defiance, but remained, a seeker

always looking for the honey in the rocks, fresh verses
in the stories that surround us, and it seems to me
some things never change, the boy from the basement is merely older.
They tell me Orion was a hunter....so was I

awesome
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
