Refuge

Post by theirishsea » October 25th, 2015, 8:11 pm

Refuge

damp drizzling day
like two adjectives (see first line)
that are almost redundant
just a few pearls of rain
hanging on bare branches
bones
a few globes of rain
explicit
not implicit
separating
damp from drizzling
but it is day nonetheless
the sun shrouded in cloud
a miasma of vapor
chilling to the human bone
but warm enough not to be ice

doesn't matter
uncomfortable in the recessed doorway
of a store
where antiques were sold yesterday
and tomorrow
but not on Sunday
the merchants at prayer
for the dispossessed
and those who owe
back taxes
The Irish Sea Is Always In Turmoil, Even When Calm.

Nice
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
