who knows

Post by saw » October 27th, 2015, 9:56 am

never been in love before
just figured that out recently
as I considered the juxtaposition

a lot of close calls
some beautiful sunsets in forgotten coves
some glowing embers of seashore fires

they light the perspective that shines
on how sometimes we settle for pretty good
making few judgments

the paper chains of time tell stories
for those that never made the scene
the weak links of familiar landmarks

the vacant buildings, the trash in the gutter
the azaleas in bloom, you make up your own mind
about me, my choices, the record, I've got nothing to say

your vote is the only one that counts, maybe you think
you've seen me before, maybe I look like a guy at the gym
that hung with a friend of a friend

who knows, maybe you got me pegged right
It's out of my hands. I'm staying out of it, take
your take with you, live in peace, I believe in you

all of you
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I like the poem. Love? It is like a coral reef. It is beautiful but it can cut you. You can live in it but it becomes a commonplace home then. That iridescent beauty that you first noticed fades like the brilliant dawn. Love can still light your way like an afternoon sun but its brilliance is only notice when it is late evening and it threatens to disappear.

That's my take on it.

"...I believe in you

all of you"

Who could ask for more than this?

I like these two and half stanzas. I think they can stand alone.

:? IDK, but...

believe you not, on me,
for the I of which you speak,
is but found, in only you...

and this love, as must be,
within the I of which you seek,
is but bound, within you too...
many is a word
