Shads Landing,
Pokomoke River State Park
I'm on my back
atop the picnic table
looking directly upward
along the the impossibly straight
trunks of statuesque runway models
no branches at all
til they kiss the dawn
sunless morning of misty promise
wispy needles outlined
smokey gray, thin branches wave
on witchy arms trying to stretch
enough to touch the hidden sun...
they try to loosen up
like me, it's 6:30 am, our approach
to greeting the new day
symbiotic aerobics, I move my arms
the breeze vibrates the treetops
I move my legs, my toes tingle electricity
switched on by the disappearing night,
I imagine the syncopation of stimulated roots,
morning blood flows like heated pine sap....
trees and a waking man find a union of zen perfection
we smile at each other like new lovers
pine tree smiles
pine tree smiles

Advice from a Tree
By Ilan Shamir
Dear Friend,
Stand Tall and Proud
Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Reflect the light of a greater source
Think long term
Go out on a limb
Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace with joy the changing seasons
For each yields its own abundance
The Energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Summer
The Wisdom to let go of leaves in the Fall
The Rest and Quiet Renewal of Winter
Feel the wind and the sun
And delight in their presence
Look up at the moon that shines down upon you
And the mystery of the stars at night.
Seek nourishment from the good things in life
Simple pleasures
Earth, fresh air, light
Be content with your natural beauty
Drink plenty of water
Let your limbs sway and dance in the breezes
Be flexible
Remember your roots
Enjoy the view!

Re: pine tree smiles
Nice...
Peaceful
Beautiful
Peaceful
Beautiful
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
